Street Art Cafe @ Lebuh China, George Town, Penang

Please take note that this cafe is no longer in business

A trip to Penang with buddies will usually end up as a food hunting trip. We have heard or came across blog entries on friend ice-cream in Penang. So, finally, my buddies and I managed to squeeze out sometime for some good food.

The cafe can be easily located once you cross the road
opposite the Goddess of Mercy Temple.

You can see the logo of Street Art Cafe, plus a
banner with 'Thailand Fried Ice Cream'
printed on it.

If you have been to Kaffa, Street Art Cafe
is located in the middle of a row of shops before Kaffa.

Check this out for the location:

Outside the cafe.
Cross the road in front of the temple
and you will reach the shops.

The cute cups on the glass window caught my
attention. They are adorable.

Adorable drawings on top of the entrance.

The dining area of Street Art Cafe.

The cafe is pretty small actually and to secure a place,
you are advised to be there early.

There are some cute mural on the other side of
the wall, which is almost the same like
what I saw at the entrance.
We were seated in a small room
in stead of the dining area since the
cafe was packed with people during that time.

The menu of the cafe,
with the logo of the cafe on the cover.

Fill your order and design your own
ice-cream! Yay!

The papers can be found on the table and
a variety of ice-creams are available for the
fried ice-cream. You can choose your preferable
sauce and toppings for the ice-cream, which
is a pretty cool idea.

Matcha Green Tea Ice-cream @ RM 6.90

I love the sweet flavour of the ice-cream
and green tea desserts always taste
good with chocolate.

However, this ice-cream melted very fast
and we had to race against time to finish
it up. Nevertheless, it is delicious.
Would order that again. XD

Kiwi Ice-cream @ RM 6.90

Sour and refreshing. It didn't melt as fast
compared to the green tea ice-cream.

I love the flavour and  I could actually finish
the entire thing myself as you won't get
tired of the taste.

Chocolate and kiwi are good combinations. Yum!

No Name @ RM14.90

Well, I am serious. This dish is known as the 'No Name'.

It is a combination of bolognese, carbonara and aglio
olio. Surprisingly, it tastes good.
A lil creamy with sweet flavour from the
ham and prawns perhaps.
I love the lovely flavours of this pasta.
In my opinion, it tasted more like a crossover
of tomyam 'basah' friend noodles.

Definitely gonna order this again.

Aglio Olio @ RM 13.90

They are generous with the ingredients and I see
lovely prawns in the spagthetti.
A slight hint of spiciness from the pepper.
Ham, mushroom and seafood.
Your spaghetti will never go wrong with them.

Carbonara @ RM 13.90

Not a fan of carbonara and I did try some
since my buddy ordered this dish.

Flaming Tuna @ RM 13.90

This is the first time I have ever seen tuna spaghetti
on a menu. Surprisingly, it tastes good, with a hint
of spiciness and the tuna tastes good.

The sauce of the spaghetti is tomato based.
The spices manage to remove the fishy smell
of the tuna. However, I prefer the use of
bigger chunks of tuna instead of the mushy texture.

Breakfast Egg Special @ RM 14.90

I was delighted to see breakfast on the menu.
It seems that they have them for the entire day.
Awesome!

My special breakfast set comes with scrambled eggs
(you can opt for omellette as well), sauted mushroom,
hashbrown, toasted bread, ham and salad.

The portion is big and they are generous with the
ingredients for the scrambled eggs, with spices
and mushrooms. I would always welcome
the idea of having breakfast as lunch.
Not to mention that the serving is generous.
Thumbs up!

Caramel Latte @ RM 9.90

Latte art is another reason why I order
coffee during my trip to a cafe.

The latte is good.
There is a sweet milky after taste
in stead of the bitter taste of coffee.

Iced Caramel Macchiato @ RM 12.90

Lovely sweet sensation of the macchiato.
The caramel on top of the drinks does
look artistic.

Iced Chocolate Mint @ RM 12.90

Ice Blended Dark Chocolate @ RM 11.90

Ice Blended Chocolate Mint @ RM 11.90

The only thing which I was disappointed is that they run out of Dessert in Jar during my visit. The horror! I was looking forward to try that after reading rave reviews online.

In short, the service is good and the food is lovely, yet affordable. I would love to come back again for the ice-cream and hunt for the Dessert in Jar of course.

Well, only service charge is included in the bill and they do provide good service.
